Bob
I just met Bob, the owner of a rotisserie place down the Street from my hotel. As I was standing there, trying to decide what to order with my chicken, he comes forward from his desk behind the counter. His commanding presence was framed by loud passionate opera calling from the speakers. He held up his glass of red and greeted me with a loud "bounjourno"! Hospitality. I ordered my chicken, roasted vegetable and eggplant with red peppers and feta while Bob encouraged me to drink the merlot. I liked Bob and the way he made me feel like a friend as soon as I walked in. While eating, got to talking. Bob moved from San Francisco 2 years ago to open this place. He has 4 children and worked for 8 years with juvenille delinquents as a chaplain. He's a deacon. He feels he needs to give back. He got fed up with corporate, sold it off and moved to San Luis Obispo to buy rotisserie. He also has had many a brush with fate which should have taken his life. His grandmother lived to 113. He feels blessed and needs to give back. I like meeting people like him and I like when it's a surprise when I was just expecting to get dinner and go back to my room. As I walked back in the rain, I thought about how much I am thankful for and how God presents opportunities to me in times I surely don't expect it.
